Jaffo Gate Quartet

Het repertoire van de groep bestaat uit jazzy negrospirituals, meeslepende ballads en swingende standards. Omdat The Jaffo Gate Quartet verschillende songs in diverse stijlen zingt, is het repertoire voor velen aantrekkelijk.

The Jaffo Gate Quartet zingt in de traditie van het roemruchte Golden Gate Quartet en The Mills Brothers, vocal-groepen die in de jaren veertig een enorme populariteit genoten in Amerika.
Bekende songs van die groepen werden en worden door de eigen arrangeur van The Jaffo Gate Quartet nieuw leven ingeblazen.

Hoewel het kwartet bekend is geworden door de bekoorlijke a capella-zang, treedt het steeds vaker op met haar vaste begeleiders. Bassist Ben Alwart, drummer Walter Muringen en pianist Glenn Gaddum begeleiden het kwartet op de manier zoals begeleiders van The Golden Gate Quartet en The Mills Brothers dit 40 jaar geleden deden. Zo blijft de originele sound behouden en vormen zang en begeleiding een hechte eenheid.

De groep geniet grote bekendheid in Nederland en omliggende landen.
Zij maakte succesvolle tournees door Zwitserland, Polen, Oostenrijk, België en Suriname en gaf concerten in Engeland en Frankrijk. Vooral in Duitsland wordt zij steeds bekender na een serie concerten in 1995.

The Jaffo Gate Quartet treedt op tijdens kerkdiensten, huwelijks-inzegeningen, bedrijfsfeesten, jazzfestivals en geeft veel concerten. Naast optreden in theaters, schouwburgen en concertzalen is het kwartet regelmatig te horen en te zien op radio en televisie.
